Thoughts on Service
Jesus confirmed 3 great commands for us.
1. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul, & strength.
2. Love our neighbors as ourselves.
3. As His disciples we are to love one another.
Throughout the scriptures we see that out of this love comes a desire to serve God, each other, & our neighbor. For He said He also came to serve.
Service becomes an act of love & worship that brings Glory & Honor to Jesus.
Service plays a part in our sanctification process. It is how we grow & become more like Jesus. It brings both purpose & significance to our being.
Others can experience the presence of Jesus through our service.
Much can be done to advance the cause of Christ through service by demonstrating & sharing with people how much God loves them. Service is actually discipling, for by your actions you are teaching others how to follow Jesus.
Serving someone can be a door to evangelism. It can create opportunities for relationships. Faith conversations are more natural & comfortable in the connections service creates.
Self sacrificing service even to the point of martyrdom has impacted nations & history.
Isn’t our purpose to do good works? Aren’t good works really acts of service? Can I Encourage us to increase our life margins to make room for service? Your Church & your community can greatly benefit from your desire to serve.
Finally let me also encourage you today, to be great in Gods Kingdom. Don’t we all want to hear these words. “Well done good & faithful servant”.
